Max EFC for Pell Grant

For the upcoming 2010-2011 school year that starts on July 1st, 2010 the max EFC you can have to be eligible for the Pell Grant is 4617. The minimum amount of the Pell grant you can be awarded is $1176 for this school year.

Your Pell grant amount that you are awarded is based solely on your EFC number. Since the EFC is derived from all the answers you put in on the FAFSA, then this is the only number that is used to determine what kind of aid you are going to get. The lower your EFC is, the more money you are going to get.

For example, if your EFC is 4617 and you are going to attend school full time, you would be awarded $1176 for the entire school year. If your EFC is zero and you are going to attend full time, you would be eligible for the maximum award of $5550 for the entire year. The best situation you can be in for college is to get a zero EFC for the year, you would get the maximum financial aid available as long as you got your FAFSA in on time and were attending full time
